What a GAME! I watched here and there, but was able to sit and watch the second half uninterrupted. (The funeral procession of President Ford interrupted the final 6 minutes of the first half… grrr… but I got to eat some great Italian food at Angie’s cousin’s restaurant Frankie Toco’s in old town St. Charles. )

The final quarter was vintage Beavers football, down big, and scratching and crawling to get back in the game. Coach Riley said it at the end, they’ve had a few games like that this year. But down 14 points with 12:08 left is right where we wanted the Tigers. One good series on the back of Yvenson Bernard and now we’re only down 7. Add a rare defensive stop and a great return by Tommy Suanders and the Bevos were within striking distance with less than two minutes left. A Matt Moore 14 yard strike to Joe Newton and were are an Alexis Serna kick away from overtime. Riley struck with the iron hot and Bernard ran it in for the two point conversion with 22 seconds left, and suddenly we had won.

Great season Beavers, first beating the hated Trojans and now another great gutsy bowl win. Way to go Coach Riley!

Whoo! Champions

Lost Numbers Helmet Although Tony doubted, I never did.  The Lost Numbers are champions for the 2006 PCBC Fantasy Football league.  Sure, the final game was a 73-73 tie with Rookie Clark, but my overwhelming regular season record (11-3) put the Numbers over the top.
