Zowowie! – Creative Zen Vision:M

Creative Zen Vision: MLast night, we went to StuffMart and purchased for Angie a Creative Zen Vision:M.  She’s been wanting something that plays MP3s and that she can take with her (her laptop is a bit bulky) and play the songs she loves in the car, or around the town.  One of the requirements was that it can connect to her Rhapsody account, and be able to use their subscription service.  The sexy slick iPods are tied to the iTunes (I know they can play other normal MP3s, &c.) and isn’t compatible with the subscription service that Angie would like to use.  I had heard about the Zen Vision a few months back, and had a crush on it for a while, since it has some pretty cool video features (much more flexible than the iPod with codecs).  So we’ve had our eyes on this one for a while.  We bought an old style cassette tape adapter so she can listen to her music in the car as well.

After we got home, it needed to charge up (via a USB connection, which is the way things seem to be going nowdays, and also handy as we both have our laptops) and so she left to go scrap/stamp with Natalie. *evil laugh* ITS MINE!!! *cough cough* at least for a few hours…

Time to put it through its paces, so follow the geekitude after the break.

Ooohhh.. SNAP!

That is who she is…

Went over and read about Big Orange Michael’s latest crush, and then read the interview with Sprague Grayden, and then read her profile.

I’ve been trying to pin her since watching the first two episodes of Jericho, and at first I was thinking she’s Samantha Mathis (Christian Slater’s squeeze from Pump Up The Volume and Broken Arrow).  But it never really bugged me enough to IMDB her… but she was Judith on Joan of Arcadia ( I miss that show, and the cliffhanger that never got resolved…)  She was awesome in that role, and she is doing great as Heather Lisinski, the quiet and competent school teacher/love interest (not that one, the other one…) of Skeet/Jake. ( I’m still getting all the names for Jericho, so bear with me here…)

Anyways, in her interview, she says that each week, the viewers of Jericho get another peice of the puzzle.  The first episode gave us two explosions, then next a series of red pens showing other smoking holes in the ground.  This week, we are teased with:

Jake organizes a group to gather more information about the explosions after a satellite television in the local bar broadcasts an Asian news program showing the extent of the nuclear attacks.

Consider it a prelude to LOSTastic…  Mmmm… television puzzle dramas… (Speaking of which, Angie NAILED the Nip/Tuck kidney stealers last week… tsk tsk tsk…)

Solicitation for Feedback…

Over lunch on Sunday, talking with Matt and Debbi, we discussed or television blogging obsession. (okay.. maybe it was just my obsession, whateva, it was like three days ago.. okay?)

Last year on Misplaced Keys, I tv-blogged quite a bit, and enjoy re-hashing what I observed on a show, and kibitzing a bit on strategy and such for reality shows like survivor. And Debbi, did a bang up job in the comments taking up my AI slack…

But anywhoo… I need to nail down what you, my 4.5 readers, would like to see. Do you more prefer the recap with little or no commentary? Commentary, and bringing on the teh snark! or a mixture of both, and leave it up to me. Or maybe I just need to get over myself. Anyways… vote!

Thanks to the Democracy 2.0 WordPress plugin and widget. The poll will remain active in the sidebar until … well I come up with another poll.

None of the above…

apologies to Monty Brewster if what Allahpundit is reporting is true, then I may follow the lead of Ace and deity at HotAir.  I’ll take a step further, any candidate with an ‘incumbent’ by their name, won’t earn my vote.  I’d love to see the faces of hapless pols as they realize that they can be run out of office with the mark on a ballot.  Replace the whole House of Representatives, and 1/3 the Senate in November.

Sunday night … just isn’t Sunday night anymore…

Now that Grey’s Anatomy is on Thursday night (and what a messed up night that has become, one needs like seven DVRs just to make it through the night… its like there isn’t any other night on television, but Thursday. I blame Bill Cosby!

So we did watch the season (I think) premiere of the Sears Workshop Ty’s Roadtrips Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The tear ducts got a good cleansing a few times, irk! But wow, a 3000+ squarefoot house in 53 hours and change. I’m glad I don’t have to compare that to the building of my house… but I know some friends that are gritting their teeth, and trying to smile when they see that number. I do wonder if they’ll show the house in 6 weeks when settling starts in and the cracks start to show. Too cynical? Yep, that’s me… 🙂

Desparately trying to even get a care up for Desparate Housewives. Just not feeling the love. Bree gets married – whoop – de – do. To and axe murderer with a fetish for cleaning supplies *yawn*. Lynette and TOm fighting over the mother of Tom’s oldest daughter, urghle. Carlos and Gabby’s surrogate gives birth to another couples baby, go figger. Mike’s in a coma, leaving Susan to gain the attraction of another guy with his significant wife in a coma. *Strrreetttccchhh*

more blather after the fold…

Submitted for approval – Pomecast

Since Apple is being persnicity and wants people to not use the word ‘podcast’.  I submit that people that offer up audio files over the internet, drop ‘podcast’, and start using the similar sounding ‘pomecast’ (Pome from the french for Apple – since this is a weasley move for Apple to make, using french is apros-po)  This is silly on so many levels, serving audiofiles (in MP3 or whatever format) didn’t really get going until the iPod came out and then ‘suddenly’ you could get ‘podcasts’.  Whoopdedo.  I’d venture to guess that the word ‘podcast’, has sold more actual iPods than the term mp3.

But I could be wrong.

Comicbook movie update:

Wizbang Pop has an article that says Robert Downey Jr. will play Ironman in the upcoming film. Apt casting, since one of the first comics I remember reading as a boy had Tony Stark living in a bottle because his business was going south. As recounted by this article at the Marvel Database:

In recent years Tony Stark’s greatest nemesis has been alcoholism. As a wealthy socialite, alcohol had been a constant part of his life. When his company, which had changed its name from Stark Industries to Stark international, was threatened with the takeover at the same time he was experiencing oppressive personal problems, Stark began to abuse alcohol. Although he managed to recover quickly from his first serious bout, the compulsion to drink remained a constant temptation. The second time he succumbed to alcoholism, due to even more devastating personal problems than the first time, Tony Stark went on a several month binge during which he was cheated out of Stark international, had all Iron Man suits destroyed (except one), lost the leases on his various apartments, and had his personal assets frozen so that he could not touch his fortune. All of this was the result of the machinations of the mysterious European entrepreneur Obadiah Stane, who took over Stark’s company, renaming it Stane International.

On that note, Marvel comics has done an ok job of getting their mainstream books onto the screen. We’ve had Spiderman (spidey-riffic all of ’em), X-men (great), Fantastic Four (eh), Hulk (lol!), Daredevil (eh+), and Elektra (didn’t see.. but c’mon Jennifer Gardner was THE reason you saw Daredevil…. don’t lie!!) . Coming are Ghost Rider and Ironman. Meanwhile DC Comics just relies on Supes and the Dark Knight (would love to see Dark Knight Returns made into a movie) though Joss Whedon is supposed to bring Wonder Woman to the screen sometimes… In the end the Marvel Universe has a bigger bag to pick from, so they can go deeper into the genre. Will there be a Flash major motion picture, that I’d see.

Update: Jack M. @ Ace of Spades has a pic of the issue that popped into my brain as well. (geeks unite!)
